HFC Women Are Champions of New Jersey

The Hoboken FC 1912 Women won the 2018-2019 New Jersey Women’s State Cup, also known as the Ellen Varsallona Cup, on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 with a 5-1 victory over Meadowlands FC. Meadowland FC took any early lead in the 11th minute before Hoboken FC leveled the score in the 36th minute with a Lauren Hill goal. In the second half, Hoboken FC took control of the match with goals by Rachel Ivanicki (58th and 66th minutes), Samantha Bock (83rd minute) and Brianne Boyle (89th minute).This is the second Women’s State Cup championship for Hoboken FC, having last won the trophy in 2016.

The Hoboken FC Women also won the Garden State Soccer League women’s top flight with a record of 13-1-1.

Hoboken FC was founded in 1912, making the club the oldest continually active soccer club in the country. The women’s program was re-stabilized in 2012.
